Innsbruck Pub Guide |
Bars - Beerhalls - Beer gardens |
Introduction | |
Innsbruck, the capital of the Tirol, is
more famous for wintersport than beer. But I'm not going to mention any
distasteful physical exercise in this page. Getting back on-topic, you'll
be glad to hear that Innsbruck is home to three breweries, two of them brewpubs. Pubs Austrian pubs - and those of Innsbruck are no exception - have lots in common with those over the border in the Czech Republic. Half litre measures, reasonably-priced food and vaulted ceilings are the features that most readily spring into my mind. Beer The beers of Brau Union dominate Innsbruck, as they do most of Austria. Despite their closing of the city's two industrial breweries - Adambräu and Bürgerbräu. |

Pub with a surprisingly international beer selection. The
style could be called contemporary beerhall, but my mum told me never to
use the C-word. The dark red colour of the walls may be fashionable, but
it does make the place look a bit gloomy. |

A report from Jeremy Gray:"It's bang in the centre of town, and a pretty good place - traditional style beer hall, but with a slightly modern feel presumably due to recent reconversion of the building to this use, and the outdoor area. Five Augustiner beers on, the two I tried were both very good (Vollbier and the Dunkel). Lots of hearty Bavarian food too - Wiener Schnitzel we had was large and pretty good."Note that this is the Augusriner from Munich, not Salzburg. |
